The Program aspires to enhance students’ exposure to research and cultural innovation, locally and globally, through guest lectures, research workshops, public events and other initiatives. We encourage current and prospective partners to engage in joint initiatives to enrich course teaching, research supervision and foster student exchange.
A key platform for collaboration is our two practical courses:
Practical Experience (Practicum) Dr. Orr Scharf
The course offers students the opportunity to complete a pre-defined project at a cultural institution of their choice. Host institutions and projects are tailored to students’ areas of interest and desirable skillsets. Academia’s transition to online teaching and work in the wake of the COVID19 pandemic has opened up new opportunities for carrying out long-distance initiatives, paving the way to international collaborations.
Past projects include:
Cataloguing and recording of photograph collections (Younes & Soraya Nazarian Library, University of Haifa)
Production of film screening nights (Haifa Cinematheque)
Book editing and preparation for print production (Poetry Place Haifa)
Recording personal memories of elder citizens (Pardes Hana Local Museum)
Culture on the Ground (cultural tours) Mr. Nir Ratzkovsky
The course takes students out of the classroom (physical or virtual) to witness, experience and encounter cultural phenomena on-site. Thanks to the tours, guided visits, guest lectures as well as free roaming offered within the course, the ideas, theories, perspectives and critiques come to life in situ. Academia’s transition to online teaching and work in the wake of the COVID19 pandemic has opened up new opportunities for online tours using Google Maps, paving the way to international collaborations.
Past destinations include:
Sirkin Street, Haifa
Nazareth
Paris (online)
Kreutzberg, Berlin (online)
